They work best for back and side sleepers and the loose woollie balls batting inside gives some cushion and support. Best of all, natural wool is more breathable than cotton. The woollie balls are easier to move around in the pillow to create support just where you need it. This can be fluffy and in various fills. We also made this with a zipper so you can add or subtract woollie balls to customize your pillow. 
These pillows have to be spot cleaned or if a good clean is needed just rinse off an use soap on outer. The wool will repel the water when it is simply sprayed on the outer cotton. Do not put in machine, do not saturate. 
A lot of customers get our organic barrier pillow cover for these to protect the pillow, but barrier fabric does reduce air flow, so hot sleepers hate that.
