A perennial climbing vine that grows up to 75 feet long, Vanilla planifolia is a member of the orchid family, with yellow-white flowers that produce odorless bean pods. These blooms must be hand-pollinated, and it takes three to four years for the plant to begin producing beans. The beans are also harvested by hand before undergoing a time-consuming, labor-intensive process to fully develop their aroma and flavor.Afterward, the beans are ground into small pieces and subjected to pressurized CO2 in a two-step extraction process that captures the beans’ aromatic constituents in an absolute. p.s. If you have been using store brands EOs, make sure you use a lot less of doTERRA for the same purpose. We found out the hard way when we added 5 drops wintergreen to our bath, with doTERRA, one drop is perfect, 5 is painful, lol.
